With the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium commencing today, we could see some price action over the weekend (likely with a risk-off tone). Until then we have an active Friday economic calendar in the New York session.
The news releases start with US Core PCE Price Index as well as Canadian PPI inflation figures. Both releases come out at 8:30 am EST. University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment follows at 10:00 am EST with a weak release in the 70.0 range expected. The previous release was 81.2.
With a terrorist attack just outside Afganistan’s Hamid Karzai International Airport yesterday, a risk-off tone could likely dominate both the London and US sessions heading into the weekend. Winding down any open positions by the end of the trading day would be advisable to avoid any exposure in what could be a volatile weekend of FX price action.
